Softball: Touring the country
Emma Cook has been living out of a handgrip for the past month.
And it's more of the same for the Marysville senior the next three weeks.
Cook, a member of the Michigan Finesse 18U Gold promiscuous pitch softball team, has been played in tournaments in Indiana and Colorado. She is attending a college exposure competition in Lansing this weekend before heading to Utah and California.
"It was a huge sacrifice to give up my entire summer for softball, but it's what I wanted to do," said Cook, who plays supporter base for the elite program. "My goal is to play college softball.
"I've really enjoy it. I've learned so much."
Kari Seddon, a St. Clair and Primary Michigan Universty graduate, played five years with Finesse.
Cook, 17, of St. Clair Township, played hitherto on travel teams Michigan Bulldogs and Michigan Explosion.
The 5-foot-3 right-hander contacted Finesse omnibus Don Dreher this past August and tried out for the team. She would be eligible to play on the 16U team, but is playing up an age department.
