Doherty hopeful despite shock defeat

'He is playing for Poland in the in every way cup now, check him out :) nice player'

Scotland won the best-of-five-frames match 3-2 but Filipiak stood out, and Higgins paid the European Under-21 backer arguably a greater compliment than O'Sullivan offered.

'He looks very serious and probably reminds you of a young Stephen Hendry,' said Higgins.

'He's improving and doing so very at - he's probably the best player of the tournament so far. He didn't look like missing.'

Maguire added: 'To see him clout in a break like that in one frame against John says a lot about his character, his bottle and that he's not letting the nerves get to him.'

While Scotland struggled, England and Wales both won emphatically.

Make a note of Selby and Ali Carter combined to held England thrash Brazil's Noel Rodrigues and Fabio Luersen 4-1 in Congregation C.

The English pair are among the favourites for the title at the PTT-EGAT-sponsored tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.

About this book
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Snooker plus is a largely-obsolete variation on the cue sport of snooker. The variant was created by Joe Davis, the reigning World Snooker Champion of his era, and introduced to the public on 26 October 1959 during a major snooker tournament.Davis intended to reinvigorate the then-declining popularity of snooker by adding an orange ball (8 points) and a purple ball to the set. The idea was that this would increase the maximum break from 147 to 210, and so help to attract a greater audience. The variation failed to catch on, and the extra colour balls necessary to play the game are not available from any major supplier.

Unlike the majority of such games, it allows more than two people to play without compromises or rule changes. The game borrows concepts from the outdoor game of golf, which is historically related to the cue sports. It is usually played on 10foot or 12foot snooker tables as their size and structure are more appropriate (even in billiard halls in the United States where it is in fact more popular than snooker itself, according to the Billiard Congress of America). The players each receive a numbered object ball. Using some method such as...
