The sting of defeat drives Phelps back into the pool

"I felt like you had to change my arm to get me to the pool. I was (dragged) kicking and screaming.

"I wouldn't try, or I would just get out."

Something had to change or the world risked the untimely retirement of one of its greatest athletes.

The triple Olympian could not put a finger on what sparked his fightback.

There is little doubt it had a lot to do with his rivals bridging the gap.

Phelps had been indestructible in the 200m butterfly for nine years and 60 races.

Then this year he lost three times in his pet event twice to China's Wu Peng and once to Australian Notch D'Arcy.

The signs were showing at the Pan Pacific Championships last year when, with insufficient training, he lost to teammate Ryan Lochte in the 400m person medley, failed to qualify for the final and withdrew from the 200IM.

These were events that he owned and it stung.

"There are always things that I pine for to accomplish," the 26-year-old said.

Me and my friends were swimming in a pool, and we were seeing how hunger each of us could stand that jet on are hands, and feet, for some reason my index finger is swelling o-o and i was like WTF. I didn't know if i should be upset or what

You left it there to protracted and caused inflammation from the hard water pressure. Take some motrin, advil or aleve every 6 hours for a day and put ice on it and it should mend just fine and in the future high pressure water can be dangerous when used as

unluckily enough I did the same thing today. my whole hand was red and swollen. just try not to mess with it too much. I didnt and I'm fine now. learn ur reprimand tho haha

my finger nails get categorically big and soft after i get out of the pool. I know this is normal i just want to know why it happens and how.

ya plus your fingers draw back after staying in the water for any length of time.

Four weeks from today will put us at October 18th and the Rangers will have played only three games, so the cost to his seasoned may be little.  The Rangers will be hosting the Avalanche on the 18th, which could very well be his recompense or it will be the 4th game he misses in the season.  There might be enough lodge for a worth vivacity back ready with this provocative tidbit of word.
