Cowboys represent in Calgary

Depiction the right horse is always half the battle for rodeo cowboys.

But sometimes those draws can go either way.

Take bareback rider Matt Lait for case.

The Balzac cowboy drew and rode City Line to an impressive 84.5-point score on his first a motor cycle at the Calgary Stampede yesterday afternoon.

"The horse that I had seen before and I wasn't real happy to have him," the Pool B bareback rider said yesterday. "From what I've seen before, he wasn't trustworthy great."

But Lait said he knew a couple guys that got on City Line and managed scored a few points.

"You've got to believe of the positives," Lait said. "I went out there and thought if a guy rode as good as he could, you might be able to get something done and get something to happen.

"He came out, had a twosome real big jumps and didn't go too far."

Lait's performance was a half point shy of Tuesday's best harry, an 85-point ride by a Texan named William Lowe.

Lait earned a sedateness $4,500 for his efforts and ranked second on the day.

I harmonize - lose the boots. I like the cowboy boots/short dress look, but not at a pool party. Get some high strappy heels.

ditch the boots, add some sandals or wedges.
no boots with thin on the ground before dresses, please.

You might run the imperil of filling your expensive cowboy boots full of water at the pool. I'd wear sandals.

About this book
At age fifteen, Laban Samuel Records (1856-1940), the youngest of twelve children, moved west with his family from Indiana to Kansas. About sixty-six years later, writing in pencil on Big Chief tablets, he remembered this move and his other western experiences through the year 1892, when he settled with his wife and children on the claim he had staked in the Cheyenne-Arapaho Run. In the intervening years, Laban was a freighter with his brother on the Santa Fe Trail and a cowpuncher in the Dodge City stockyards. He first encountered Indians on the banks of the Verdigris River in southern Kansas, learned the Osage language, and became an agency cook at Pawhuska. Later he worked in the Cherokee Outlet as a line rider for the T-5 and Spade ranches, eventually becoming a foreman. Because of Laban's firsthand knowledge of people and events, his account adds a new perspective to several infamous episodes. For example, he barely escaped the raid by Dull Knife and other Cheyenne warriors in 1878,...
